Suffolk garden
A period property in town location this space was a car park with a tired lawn attached. The new owners wanted a formal courtyard garden with space to sit out and dine, plant rich borders to provide privacy, a greenhouse and space to park one car.
With a South facing sheltered aspect and well drained loamy soil planting in this garden had to withstand periods of drought in the summer and prolonged frost in the Winter. Tough Mediterranean plants were chosen to suit the extremes of summer to winter temperatures, Cistus and Salvia varieties have thrived here. Naturalistic planting contrasts the formal design and softens the edges.
